Prices should go down this weekend. At least here in Texas.
Here in central Texas where I own some gas stations, my cost of fuel has dropped 13 cents since Wednesday. Prices for the public should start dropping (in our area) over the weekend and early next week as a result. There is a lag time because gas stations owner have to sell the thousands of gallons we have in inventory that were purchased earlier in the week at higher prices.
Why are they dropping (at least for now)? Because our allocation has been lifted.
The public was not aware that restrictions (allocation) were put on fuel distributors. They had caps on what they could sell and it was driving prices up. Less supply = higher price.
I do not know why the allocation was lifted, but it was and I for one am glad to see it.
Take Care

Surprisingly, I saw prices drop by 4 to 7 cents at San Diego over the last week, leading upto the Memorial Day weekend. In my community, the price range is 3.29 - 3.42 per gallon of regular unleaded gas.
I think people are driving the same as they have always been doing. However, they have started using more and more "green" cars and they have started using gas price comparison sites more frequently to shop around for the cheapest gas in town.

It just would never happen. Americans are slaves to their gas guzzling SUV's. They stand at the pump and complain about how much they are paying for gas, then in the next breath say they won't change their driving habits. Then there are companies that will fire employees for trying to take 5 days off. Not enough people care, but the ones who do care should change their habits and go as long as posible without buying gas. Maybe if enough people stopped buying gas they could make a difference, but I'm skeptical.

Well, I saw it yesterday for $3.05 (actually 3.06, once you factor in that 9/10 of a cent they always tack on to it), which was significantly better than the $3.15-3.25 range it was last weekend. We went to a church retreat about three hours from here, and I felt I'd scored a major coup by gassing up the day we arrived at a place that had it for 3.09--I figured it beat paying the much higher prices we'd seen on the way there!

they are 3.60 here and no one will stay home, they will ***** about it but bend over and take it. i will not drive out of town this weekend because I dont like the prices going up for no reason so instead of complaining and not doing anything about it i am making a stand. if we all do it will make a difference. i know we all need gas to go to work but at times like a holiday we need to strike until they get that we wont pay the price boost for no reason.

STOP COMPAINING!!!!!!!!!!
-Gas prices have not gone up at all! When you adjust for inflation you'll find that gas prices were more expensive in 1981.
-Saying gas prices have gone up is like saying Rush Hour 2 made more money than gone with the wind.
-The reason people think their going up is because the gas prices are all up in your face.

$3.24 were I live. I don't think people are driving any less. Besides that sales of campers, SUVs and trucks have increased too so it must not really be affecting people that much - yet they complain about it.
