simply refused to answer the bigoted questions that keep appearing? Even if only for a day? Would it have any impact at all? Or would they just ry and find another target for their hate? I admit sometimes these people really get me boiling and I get too preachy. However, I am really considering trying the silent treatment. Not that I think they will go away but to send them a message. A message that we, gay and straight are not willing to waste our time with immature inane postings. What do you think?

I have to agree with what I see in your answers. I really do try contain myself sometimes, but I cannot leave some statement unchallanged. My wife and I have raised our (adult) children to speak out. And Richard, I fear you are correct, perhaps the only way to silence those who choose hate is to counter them with more voices preaching inclusion and love.

You know I have thought about ignoring the hater questions, but sometimes they just really bother me. I shouldn't let them and just need to let it roll of my back. But I feel that have no right to come in here and tell me I am so wrong while preaching how they are so right. Plus I like reporting them to have them lose points for their ignorance. I actually learn a lot from other people's posts that counter point the hater question...

In a lot of those cases, I believe some are just trying to be shock jocks, seeing how far the card can be pushed until something happens. In history, though, the silent treatment in real cases of bigotry/hate has empowered the haters and racists even more. When bullies are called out, they slink back to their basements.

Oh sweetie, I do try ... but then someone says something especially stupid, and I just can't help myself.

RICHARD (next answer down) has made an excellent point. In real life I never let a bigoted statement go unchallenged ... but here it is seldom worth the effort.

I think if you did that for a day it would show your ignorance. Is what you want group think. I learn something each time someone responds to a question I ask or an answer that may off color. Don't you realize that perhaps some people are listening to you when you answer the crazy questions, someone may convert.

I don't answer them anymore, no matter how aggravated they make me. I simply report them and move on. the points aren't worth lowering myself to their level.

These people would slowly go away. Use your rage in reporting them and letting Yahoo know how you feel
