**In regards to all who sent words of concern to Pat Shepard**

A few months ago, I received an e-mail from Pat. She had went though my responses,
in P & S. And she thought that they were, "hilarious". The significance of that moment. Is that while she was trying to laugh. Her Son was slowly losing his battle to Kidney failure. And I had a POSITIVE impact on her life. At a time in her life. That she needed it the most.
------------------How could I not be humbled?------------------

I asked a few of my friends to send their support to someone they don't really know.
She e-mails me that she had spent most of the day. Wiping tears from her eyes.
From all of the e-mails that she had received.
-----------------How could I not be humbled?-------------------

Now, she sends thanks, to me in the form of this short sentence:
"God knew I needed a friend. And He sent you to me".
----------------------How could I NOT be humbled?-----------------

QUESTION:
Does your words, make others humbled?
Do you see how positve words can give hapiness to others?
Can you continue to keep Pat in your thoughts. In these very trying days?

My thanks to you for being a kind person. We don't have to find a cure for cancer or sink our life savings into a non-for profit charity to make a difference to another person in this life. It can simple be the little things that bring a much need break from reality that makes it bearable..

You sent a powerful message thru this situation showing us just how God can work in our lives and those of others! Isn't it wonderful how much one person can make such a difference in the life of another bringing so many others in to share with a freind who needs the support of many friends! You may be humbled but you will be blessed and are a blessing! Our prayers will keep comming! Thank-you!

Buzz,
This should be a lesson to everyone that being a good human being is not about being democrat or repulican- it is about having a heart and showing some compassion especially when someone is going through something in their life. One doesn't have to "know" somebody to make a difference in their lives. You are the true meaning of a friend. I will continue to pray for the Shepard family in their hour of need. God Bless You.

when a person can stop you in your tracks and make you take a second look at things in your life that you tend to take for granted, Then you have received a gift from god, when pat said " God knew I needed a friend, and he sent you to me" look at it this way, God knew you needed to be humbled and sent you pat. I will continue to pray for Pat's son, and also hold my own son a little closer to the vest, Thanks for making me slow down and take a second look . God bless you both.

I understand fully . And not long ago the answers community lost one of our own . Hyperion Monk . As I've related before , he and I exchanged views through email and we almost never agreed , but we kept it civil . And thank God we did , cause when he passed, his son saw an email from me about some political subject and emailed me to tell me that his father / Hyperion Monk had died .

One of your answerers just doesn't seem to 'get it ' . It's about HUMANITY not about chiming one's own bell .

Drive on my friend , drive on .

Good for you Buzz...I worked for hospice at my previous job, caring for the terminally ill. I had a few kids or young adults. It is hard for anyone to face serious illness, but especially when you are young. It definitely gives you perspective

I agree, It's very humble to post a rant that pats yourself on the back and solicits the compliments of others for something like this.
