We live on Long Island and are looking to go on vacation some time in August - somewhere from Massachusetts to Virginia. My boyfriend and I are 25 and are looking to go for 4 days/3 nights. We're game for anything, so I'd love to hear some ideas! We already know all about VA Beach, so no mentions of that please. Also, please include a specific town (i.e. Ocean City, NJ - not the Jersey Shore)... And if possible any specifics - like hotels to stay at (preferably on the water front), places to go, and restaurants to eat at - stuff like that. Thanks so much everyone!!!

By (north) east I mean north of the Mason Dixon Line - anywhere within a 7ish hour drive. We prefer something waterfront (I'm thinking of how the hotels in VA Beach are right on the beach - something like that). And please please please include not just the specific town, but a hotel on the water too. Nothing too pricey - the place in VA beach we're looking into is $166/night - so somewhere within that price range - $200/night max.

It's a shame you are limiting yourselves north to Massachusetts. You should really give Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont a look.

Ocean City, MD is a great place for the 20s. There are night clubs, a nice beach for lazing around and swimming. In August the water is VERY warm.

There are sooooooo many hotels in OC that it would be hard to suggest just one. However, try to stay away from the high rises. That's from, say, 90th Street and up. You lose the afternoon sun on the beach because of the shadow from the buildings. There is a nice Best Western at 53rd (give or take) that has an indoor pool / bar area. The Holiday Inn at 66th Street is a nice set-up - a lot of amenities, etc. - but have heard many complaints on cleanliness in the summer. I may suggest contacting a real estate company and seeing what a vacation condo rental will cost because the hotels are pretty expensive in August, and there are condo building w/ pools.

I understand that Seacreats is a great night club.

No trip to OC would be complete w/o walking the Boardwalk. There is a Purple Moose (nightclub), Mug & Mallet (good seafood restaurant), amusements at the pier, etc. You won't run out of things to do.

Restaurants - all will be expensive. It's a tourist destination, after all. This adds to the condo argument. You could do some cooking yourself. Plenty of markets to get the food. But, for breakfast the Dough Roller. The Coach's Corner at 63rd (give or take, just south of the bridge) has excellent breakfast as well. Good dinner are BJ's on the Bay (79thish), Phillips, Mug & Mallett and Bull on the Beach.

Well , if you are in Long Island and want a vacation on the (north ) east coast, then going towards Virginia would be heading south. I would suggest you bring a compass, so you know which way North is, wouldn't want you to get lost. I would suggest, Ogunquit, Maine. They have a lot of hotels,Inns, bed and breakfasts, and a huge beach, the fun thing is that they have trolley cars named after different flowers, with the real flower on board, that are constantly stopping at several marked locations in each direction, to pick up tourists and bring them to another spot they desire to go to, for a minimal fee. This saves driving in unbearable traffic. Once you are parked, you don't have to drive again your whole vacation. Downtown, you have walking access to a movie theater, several fine restaurants, shops,a great ice cream shop, art, and walking down the street and across the wooden bridge over the dunes, you have access to one end of the long beach, with outdoor picnic area, restaurant, and motel, and can walk clear to the other end of the beach if so desired. At the other end of Ogunquit is a Live Theater, and nightclubs, and more shops and things to do. It is a busy fun place, and you won't get bored.

I agree with Old School! Especially in August, I'd head right up to ME/NH! Maine has many beaches but York Beach
(in York, ME) is a great time. Long strip of beach w/ plenty to do. Shopping, eating, sunning and bar hopping. Portsmouth, NH is nearby to York and is a very trendy and hip small city which is about a 15 minute drive. I have family in the area so never need to find lodging but you could find plenty on line. If you want Mass, the Newburyport is awesome! Quaint town with lots going on for the 25ish crowd for sure. Check out the Garrison Inn which is walking distance to everything there. have fun..good luck!

Meghan, Orlando is a variety of intense priced city. They stay for tourism, and comprehend a thank you to suck it out of you. Many recommendations exist, and that i dont comprehend the way old your siblings are, yet suited that's what i might propose. might i propose you think of approximately Rehoboth sea coast in Delaware? it extremely is extremely not intense priced in any appreciate, and has a million cool subject concerns for families to do. a quickpersistent down the coastal highway is Ocean city Maryland, it is an stunning place too (yet pricier), and has entertainment parks, curler coasters, and stuff like that. you additionally can pass pass to DC for an afternoon on an identical time as staying at Rehoboth. no longer a a approachespersistent (maybe 3 hours). you ought topersistent down early indoors the morning, see the white abode, and the lincoln memorial, and the washington monument, eat lunch, and get decrease back to the sea coast in time for some bumper vehicles and video games on the boardwalk. only one between various concepts, yet i thought approximately decrease priced, and stunning beaches, and cool subject concerns to do. This one factored all of that. Oh, you may desire to fly southwest airlines to BWI airport too, it is decrease priced.
