I think they didn't have a body at the memorial service that way they can bring him back....after some time passes ...only he had amnesia while he was gone and plastic surgery to change his looks (caused by the accident).

He was negotiating his contract so just in case, they had his plane crash. He signed a 5 year contract and he will be coming back, they just didn't say when. Dru will not be coming back.

who knows ... Nick was presumed dead when the Newman jet crashed. No body has been found, however.
