A doctor will diagnosis you as infertile if you have been trying to get pregnant for one year and are under the age of 35. If you are over the age of 35 you will be diagnosed after 6 months. Some other signs may irregular periods or being very over or under weight.
Just getting a diagnosis of infertility does not mean you can not ever have a child. There are things you can do to improve your chances. Your doctor can pin point why you haven't been successful. Whether it is PCOS, blocked tubes, low sperm count for your partner...he can help you determine the best course. You may even be able to see your regular ObGyn.
If you really don't want to go that route, there are a number of great resources out there that can help you. Understanding ovulation is the best way to really be in tune with your body.
Best of luck to you!

Hello,
Yes and No. I dont think you can get a definate answer with out seeing a specialist.
My partner and I tried for 2 yrs with nothing, untill I finally found a lovely Dr who tested me for every little thing, even gave me ultra sounds to check up. It turned out I had endometriosis wich was preventing me from concieving. I had key hole surgury where they removed all the growing endometrioses then put me on hormone tablets for 12 months. Viola!! I was off the tabs for 4 weeks then I was pregnent. I am now 33 weeks on and going strong.
I know how frustrating and upseting it can be not knowing what to do it really can be depressing and get you down especially when u just keep on trying and nothing happens.
Smoking and drinnking is one of biggest things for stoping couples from being able to concieve so if you do smoke or drink try to cut back or stop, eat well and excersise and most of all as hard as it is..... try not to get to stressed. Stress plays a big part. check with your parntner that neither of you have ever had any sort of STD or infection wich could be causing problems.
if you do seek medical advice and dont like wat you hear get a second oppinion or a 3rd or 4th as many as you need. Im quite sure the persentige for women with endometriosis is like one in every 3 these days. So its worth looking in to.
Best of luck to you I really hope you get to experience they exctement of expecting a little angel soon. hope i could help a little:)

There are plenty of signs. You can even have someone throw bones and read the result. Reliability, however, is questionable.
For reliability, you and your partner, should see a fertility specialist. After all, it takes two to tango and both systems have to function correctly. A competent professional will be able to tell you if there is a problem and what, if anything, you can do about it. Emphasis here on 'competent.'

i dont believe in not trying, relax, etc and it will happen.
it took us 1 1/2 years and we are both young...
2 years of unprotected sex - hoping it would happen
1 1/2 years of trying..
i knew something was wrong with me because i charted and after learning what i did i knew that i had a progesterone problem. its a long complicated story to explain to ppl who dont understand charting, temps, etc..
if you are interested in more information, you can email me
josh-sara@sbcglobal.net
i do however think to a point you may be able to know something is wrong.. but something major would be hard

Not sure. When I couldn't conceive after 8 years I went to a Fertility doctor and had many tests done and she said to "stop trying" and it will happen. She said when you try, your hormone level drops which makes it difficult to conceive. I stopped and just had relations to "enjoy" and two months later I was pregnant.

Yes, you can keep track of your cycles on fertilityfriend.com and track you BBT, CM, and even use ovulation tests to help predict if or when you are ovulating. Any questions IM me or message me!

No. You must have blood tests to see if you ovulate, sonograms, etc. You may have a totally regular period and still not ovulate. Or you may have endometreosis, which you can only see by ultrasound.
