If your veteranarian has recommended that you force feed your turtle, you pull his head out, and lightly pinch the loose skin under the jaw. If your turtle is weak enough to need force feeding (again, the only time to do this is when told to by a vet) his mouth should open. Some herp vets will also give you a small hook shaped dental tool, where you put the flat part under the beak, and using a prying motion, pull the lower jaw down. If you are doing this under the supervision of a veteranarian, they can show you how to do this.

Only force feed if you have been advised to do so buy the vet.You have to think about what you will feed it when you have its mouth open?????
If you are going to stomach feed it with a tube it can be very stressful on the turtle so take advice from the vet first.
Ask the vet to show you how.

Have you tried giving your turtle bananas? Turtles often love these sooo much that you won't have to force it. Also, if the turtle isn't eating it may be due to it's temperature, they go into a hibernation of sorts if they are cold for too long and when that happens, they won't eat. If that is the case, put your turtle somewhere that it can bask in the sun for awhile and try to feed it the bananas... Also, you can try tofu for protein, lots of reptiles like tofu alot.

Force feeding a reptile if you don't know what you are doing is a really, really bad idea.
You will be better off finding out why the turtle is not eating and fi that.
The single most common reason turtles don't eat is that the habitat is too cold for it.
If you tell us the species, we can offer better advice. Otherwise, you can try http://www.austinsturtlepage.com for help.
