This is life and death. The president insists on escalating the catastrophic occupation of Iraq. He scorned the bipartisan Baker-Hamilton Commission that offered a way out. He scorns the American people who voted in 2006 to bring the debacle to an end. He scorned the majority of both houses of Congress that voted to start bringing the troops home on a date certain. He sustains an occupation opposed by a majority of Americans, a majority of Iraqis and a majority of the Congress.

Here's the thing. Somehow we Americans...a collection of people decedents of the persecuted religious, criminals transported to penal colonies to empty prisons, adventurer's and starving families looking for a new life....formed a government to escape the rule of the very people that forced them to leave all they loved to start again. That new country evolved and grew and persecuted the Native American Indian and the people of Africa drug here in chains. And we grew some more. As the "world wars" swarmed Europe and involved Asia the very people we fought against asked us for help. And we responded....and somehow after WWII we became the "police force" of the world. A job. might I point out, that the UN was formed to handle.

At some point in time during our brief history we became arrogant and believe that our way of governing is the best and only way. And we have been forcing our beliefs on other countries since then. It is the fault of the people of the US that our president is so disrespectful of not only the very people who put him in office, but the people of the world. Those who say "it's not my fault I didn't vote" should hang their head in shame! The very act of not voting put this man in office! The excuse of "I didn't like any of the candidates" or "they are all liars & thevies" are just justifacations for being lazy. Not only that, but it is disrespectful of all men and women who have died and will die fighting for the USA.

The rest of the world should learn from our mistakes. As should we. I hope that the world doesn't continue to judge the people of the USA by the actions of our current President and they somehow learn of our feelings about him & his policies and know that we will change things with the next election.

Now, as never before, it becomes the responsibility of thelawmakers, lawyers, and leaders of thought and action in the nation, tomake a close study of theConstitution andfind out whether Bush has done things within the contitution or blatantly abused it, If, it is the latter, the poeple should demand the "impeachment of their President".At no time and for no one the sovereignity of theConstution could be compromised! The constitutionmakers, according to Abraham Lincoln, have devised it so "that government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth!"Let us hope the people of the US in the 21st century do not become responsible for such a bad situation, namely perishing of the government.

first, a majority of people did not put the Democrats in Power in the house and the senate. To repeat that idiotic moveon.org talking points shows your views.

A majority of Americans did vote in support of this war in 2004. Fact.

These are not occupational forces, the President said this past week that if we where asked to leave Iraq by them, not us, that he would do so.

If Congress tries to continue their policy of Surrender, You, I, and our friends and family will pay dearly.

Oh and to Poll numbers the congress's is no better than the presidents.

Nobody voted on the proposed plan to surrender to terrorists. NOBODY. We vote for people, not laws. Presidential veto is part of our governmental system, it's been used in the past.. and it will be used in the future.

As a point of reference, Bush has used the power of veto TWICE. Clinton used it 37 times. Franklin Roosevelt used it 635 times.

At least learn how the US government operates before whining abou tit.

If you and I were the "rest of the world" would we want to follow us?

Its a "hard sell" to get the rest of the world to follow us
and I'm on our side. While your question is legitimate it will soon fade as the rest of the world watches the U.S. as the price of gas per gallon soon reaches the price of minimum wage...as anarchy and civil war may soon to be in our streets.

I agree with you...this is life and death.

Don't forget we have presidents that steal thier elections.
Bush had to be appointed by 5 conservative justices in 2000. After sabotaging the election in Florida, Republican thugs stopped the election and had partisan USSC justices crown Bush as president in a right wing coup. Other countries should follow this precident too. It protects the right of the rich to become far more wealthy at the expense of others.

All of your points justify why so many people want Bush impeached. He's lied to and misled this country for two terms and because he didn't do it with a part of his anatomy, he continues to get away with it.

What is democracy? It is a voted government. RUBBISH. I believe democracy is a government which works for, with and by the people simultaneously and not for its own means. This is why Castro is a democratic leader and Bush is not. Democracy does not campaign for votes- the people choose by instinct and by their own knowledge and minds. This way it is fairer
