You are probably human. Sometimes there are things bothering people and they repress their feelings and get all bottled up, then it comes out unexpectedly and out of proportion with current events.
If you have been suffering signs or symptoms of depression for more than two weeks, you could consider seeing your doctor and a counselor to get better. Depression is a disease that is treatable and not something you are likely to shake off without help. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been proven to have life-long benefits in controlling depression. Anti-depressants can be life-savers.
I expect there is some unhappiness, frustration, anger or hurt going on in your current life or in your past and that the crying is just you unloading some pent up stress and feelings. Chronic stress can also sneak up on you and put you into a tailspin out of the blue.
Sometimes people expect more from themselves than is reasonable and push themselves too hard, too long until something gives, whether it is their health or their mind.
Maybe you are getting ill. If you are not taking good care of yourself by eating consistently (low-blood sugar can make you sad, irritable, lethargic, and unwell feeling), sleeping enough (8 hours is average), or getting rid of your stress with some good exercise, you can go on crying jags too. Be kind to yourself, get plenty to eat and drink of nutritious foods, get 8 hours of sleep at about the same time, and take time to look at what you may be repressing. Maybe today is the day you start making some small changes in your life to feel better and head toward some goals you have not realized yet.
I am sure if you take a deep breath relax, and think about yourself, you will find the answer. If not, and the crying jags keep happening, consider seeing someone professional to help you get some insight into what's going on and help you find the solution so you can feel better. Sometimes a little objectivity and support is all we need to get over the hump.
In the meantime, you can cry if you want to. It is part of being human. Be nice to yourself today and call a friend. Get out and have some fun or rest and relaxation. See if you have unmet needs and try to meet some of them if that is the case.
It will be okay. Hugs to you.
