I believe you can watch the last issue of Desperate Housewives at www.abc.com.
I usually don't have time so I just read the recaps on MSNBC. They are quite detailed.
Here's the finale recapped: (Plus you can check out a recap of any show all season you missed too)
Life or death?: In a stunning season finale, Edie was horrified when Carlos discovered she was secretly taking birth-control pills while pretending to try and get pregnant. After a confrontation at Gaby's wedding, he told her they were through. In the episode's last scene, we saw Edie leave a note for Carlos, then apparently hang herself in her home. Could she really be dead, a la Mary Alice in season one, or will something happen to save her life?
Baby mama: Bree and Orson are back from Europe, but with a surprise. Bree claims to be pregnant, but of course, it's just a pregnancy pad, as she prepares to pretend that Danielle's baby is her own. Meanwhile, Danielle's locked up somewhere at a nun-run home for unwed mothers, and as you can imagine, she's less than thrilled to be there.
Simple wedding: Mike about ran himself ragged taking on nighttime plumbing jobs to make extra money for Susan's dream wedding. When she realized what it was doing to him, she planned a surprise that, for once, worked out. Mike was surprised on his way to a fake plumbing job and taken to a simple wedding ceremony under the stars, with just Julie and the minister as witnesses. Finally, "Housewives" fans can rejoice: Mike and Susan are married at last.
Fancy wedding: Gabrielle's wedding was a million times more expensive and elaborate than Susan's, but in the end, the bride wasn't happy. Victor's father (Mike Farrell, a.k.a. B.J. from "M*A*S*H") showed up and Gaby wasn't too thrilled that he wants his son to run for governor. She was even less thrilled when she overheard father and son discussing how smart it was for Victor to marry Gaby, hoping she'll bring in the Latino vote in his eventual gubernatorial race. A shocked Gaby is suddenly realizing she may have been used all along.
Toxic mom: Lynette was indeed diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Shortly after, her mother, Stella, showed up, and all was not well at the Scavo home. Turns out Lynette's mom had cancer when Lynette was 13, and her daughter was forced to run the home. She also apparently told her cheating mother that the cancer was a punishment for her infidelity. And now that Kayla has spilled the beans about Lynette's flirtation with Rick, her mother was quick to see how that accusation feels now that the cancer is Lynette's burden to bear.
Hope that helps..........

since both shows are on abc I think they will work with him to be more flexible. Also prime time shows don't tape all year round, so we probably will see more of david vickers in the summer!
