How about incarcerated criminals are given the chance to win their freedom on national tv. They are given a knife and thrown into a tank with a hungry great white shark. If they survive they are freed. Cool huh?

Ok, I agreed with the part about it being mean to the shark until I read this.

It states they don't feel pain.

Actually, no it is not cool. The reason criminals are behind bars it to one punish them for their wrong doing and to reflect on what they have done to hope when and if they are paroled they will be better citizens (not child molestors, rapists, murderers, etc etc) would you like one of th ose kind back walking on the streets if they did manage to 'kill' the shark, I think not, and besides that why would the shark deserve that cruel and unusual punishment.....

All depends upon the crime. Child molestors, rapists and mass murderers would be good candidates, huh? But Im not so sure about those in jail/prison for drugs-related charges, robbery or white collar crimes. And as for freedom being granted if successful in the above scenario (for molestors, rapits, murderers), NO.

Yeah thats cool. It does seem harsh for shoplifters and other non violent stuff, sounds like a good deal for child molesters and wife beaters.

For criminals, they must deal with themselves.

probably not the most ethical of punishments, but hopefully it would reduce the re-offending rate.
