Do you mean it isn't shifting when it is supposed to? If I am understanding you correctly the car will take off but won't shift until you let off the gas. This could be a couple of things. My first guess is that the shifter linkage isn't adjusted properly. They are touchy and sometimes take a little while of tinkering to get right. My second guess is that you might need a new governor. Only having 70,000 miles you might need to check the condition of the ATF. I would have it flushed and changed and then go from there. Make sure the ecm codes are reset. Sometimes fixing drivability problems are as easy as disconnecting the negative battery cable and wait for 15 minutes then reattach it. Making the ecm relearn settings might just cure the problem. Electronicly controled automatic transmission may have several trouble codes in it. Either that or it is transmission rebuild time.
