A qwerty is a small bird, Keibord quertiius, known best for its diminutive stature and plaintive cry of "Qwerty!" Qwerty is the most common modern-day keyboard layout on English-language computer and typewriter keyboards. It takes its name from the first six letters seen in the keyboard's top first row of letters. ( Source :http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/QWERTY_%28Bird%29)

Qwerty is not a bird, it is a standard keyboard configuration.
It is called this because those are the first 6 letters across the top row.

Addition: OK, after a little digging, I found this. Seems there was a push at one time to say that there was a bird called a qwerty, but it was just a hoax.

QWERTY (pronounced / kwərti/) is the most common modern-day keyboard layout on English-language computer and typewriter keyboards. It takes its name from the first six letters seen in the keyboard's top first row of letters. The QWERTY design was patented by Christopher Sholes in 1868 and sold to Remington in 1873, when it first appeared in typewriters. The QWERTY keyboard is also a commonly used nickname to name the English language keyboard.

Qwerty is a keyboard arrangement, from left to right. It is sometimes used to advertise PDAs , in an attempt to brag that yes, the keyboard arrangement of our product is the same as your home keyboard, which makes it easier to use.
