No America is not truly free.
Freedom by definition: the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints.
Therefore freedom of speech means to speak without restriction and we all know that is untrue for the US.

Nowadays, America is only a free country for the extreme left & special interest groups. The rights of the majority are slowly getting taken away.
As for 'freedom of speech' - it certainly doesn't mean what most people think it means. It was adopted to protect people from being persecuted for speaking against their government. It is not intended to prevent you from getting fired if you say something offensive on the radio...and so on.

It depends on what you mean by a "free country". Lots of Americans seem to think that theirs is the only "free country" in the world. I once saw an answer on this site that claimed that the US was the only country with a constitution.
