I have a similar issue with my heart, cardiologist explained to me there are 4 chambers in the heart, the valve the open to let the blood in and the close to push the blood out when the heart is pumping is too long in my heart, so what happens is that sometimes, the valve creates a hamock effect, were it bends more than its suppose to, thus the flow of blood coming in is not the same as going out, creating a bit of pressure in the heart itself, I feel a pain in my chest, what normally happens is that you feel the pain and normal reaction the heart starts beating faster, for me, they said it wont kill me, need to do some exercises to that the heart itself can become stronger like an athlete, with exercise the heart will grow stronger and bigger, thus, the valve will not be to long and will stop producing a hamock effect.

Speak to a cardiologist, they will be able to do a scan and you can watch your heart beat .

You are noticing palpitations.
Everyone has them occasionally.
If these episodes are only lasting moments then I would not get too concerned. If these episodes were lasting for an extended period of time I would take your pulse and if it is very fast (meaning greater than 140 beats per minute) I would go to the ER.
How much caffeine are you consuming? Do you notice that these episodes happen more when you are really tired? Are you under alot of stress? THese are a few common causes of palpitations. All of these things stress the body out.
You could just make an appointment with your physician and discuss it with him, get a routine physical for your peace of mind.

Are you dieting?

A few years ago I went on a Very low fat diet. These were symptoms I had eating almost no fat. The longer I dieted the worse it got.

It only took a burger to correct the problem. I still do not eat much meat (the additives activate my RA) But olive oil butter and healthy fats keep the muscles fed. Remember the heart is a muscle and has to be fed protein to stay strong.

This happens when the muscles near the heart thighten and release and this affects the consistent pumping of the heart. This will also happen when one has over-exacted.

Have you gone for any ECG test? If not, you might want to consult a GP who will be able to conduct this test if he deemed necessary.

It may be an anxiety attack or it may be a heart problem. You should discuss it with your doctor,
