Hi there, where can I check whether my employer IS REALLY paying taxes (NIN) ? it appears on the payslips that he does, but then again, he creates payslips in MSPaint! my bank statement claims that instead of wage or salary or whatever, my company transfers mysterious "bill payments" to my account. wtf? am I being..well...treated dishonestly?

Check with the Internal Revenue Office if your employer really pays taxes and you will even be rewarded for reporting irregularities in the payment of taxes.

HMRC probably won't disclose whether they are receiving PAYE deductions from your employer as that is confidential. However, if you highlight to HMRC that you think PAYE is not being paid over, they will certainly investigate, but they won't tell you the outcome. if he is failing to pay over the deductions, it's his problem, not yours.
The reference to 'bill payment' on your account might just be the way your employer's bank refers to all BACS transfers.

Phone the revenue authorities and simply ask them to check. If hes having a laugh with you a spell in clink would do him good especially if hes a smarmy pretty boy.
