I haven't starred any yet (although I thought some questions were superb and deserved that) because the stars people gave me, as far as I can see, have not been credited to my account, so I wouldn't want my starring someone else's question to be a waste of time.

I never really think about starring. If I do star it is because I genuinely think it's a good question!!!!

I only star questions when I want to see what answers are posted, and so I know who to vote for best answer in case the asker does not choose.
