I have used a process where you use a standard ink jet printer to print a reverse image onto a heat transfer paper. You then use a heat press (or Iron) to apply the transfer to a fabric (t-shirt). The ones I used were from blankshirts.com and are hot peel transfers. They don't leave such a bad coating on the shirt and they turn out great! They do fade after many washes, but last quite a long time.

No, they need 'transfers', we have a customer whos in that type of business, they design the thing, print on special paper, then use a presser and press onto the shirts.
