i have a wireless router and a CPU and the internet is working fine on that. i bought a new CPU and the internet explorer isn't working on that. any ideas on how to fix that problem.

First of all cheake the raoter driver software installed properly
Then cheak the lan connectivity of your pc is ok & getting 100Mbps line with full duplex.
If all the above are ok then just turn off the firewall of the windows XP (SP2) if your oprating System is Linux Just reinstall the explorer rpm
If that also not solve your prob then call me or any computer Engg He will Deff. Solve this prob ..

You probably have a security setting on.
Go through the working pc in the nework connection. Write down all the settings for WEP security, SSID, DHCP, etc (there will be about 12 things).

Now check the router to see if more wireless ports are available to a new user,

Then put the settings into the new pc, and it should find the internet ok.

configure the new computers wireless card to the wireless router. make sure the wireless card is active and connect to your wireless portal

You either need to setup the wireless on that new computer or use a network cable

Use the old CPU and then contact microsoft and ask what's going on
