i believe it does. i am 35 weeks and already 3 cm dilated. my midwife told me i could not walk or have sex, as she was concerned it might send me into early labor. at 37 weeks, trust me - i'm trying it all!

I read that semen has a hormone in it that can trigger the start of labor. I tried to get my hubbie to go for it, and it kinda felt like it started something a little. Maybe if we would have done it more than just once. I think also orgasms help because of the muscle contractions. I feel for you, and I guess why not try it.

Here's the bad news. My son was 12 days late and almost 9 lbs! We did spicy food, sex, walking, meditation, a glass of wine to relax me; you name it, we tried it. Yeah on nipple stimulation, you can feel the contractions getting going. But when you stop, they stop. And DO NOT do the castor oil. We tried it when they were going to induce me and it was scary. It worked, but the cotractions hit really hard and fast.

If you are 2 cm it won't be long. Try to get some sleep cuz you're gonna need it!

Well it´s believed to bring on labor but I believe your baby will come when he/she is ready.

Natural Ways to Induce Labor If the medical methods of jump starting labor sound a bit off putting, there are a number of home remedies for inducing labor naturally when you are past your due date. But remember: none of these remedies will start labor unless you have already begun to dilate. However, some methods can help you to tone and soften your uterus.

1. Eat spicy foods or pineapple.

2. Go for a walk or march up some stairs. This is thought to bring on labor because of the pressure of the babys head pressing down on your cervix. At the very least, walking can help get your baby into a better position for labor.

3. Have sex. A favorite for many pregnant women, sex can help by releasing a hormone called oxytocin, which causes the uterus to contract. Additionally, semen contains a substance known as prostaglandins, which will help soften the cervix.

4. Nipple stimulation. For those who find sex just too uncomfortable right now, nipple stimulation may be a better choice. It helps to bring on labor in much the same way sex does, by releasing oxytocin. However, this method may take a bit more effort than sex to start labor.

5. Stretching of the uterine opening membranes. This can be done by your doctor or midwife and has been found to increase the chances of labor starting within 48 hours.

6. Complementary therapies. Acupuncture, massage, teas, herbs and homeopathic remedies can be helpful when it comes to inducing labor. However, make sure you go to a licensed practitioner who has experience treating pregnant women.

One home remedy that is often recommended to pregnant women is castor oil taken either alone or with orange juice. While some women swear by this method, many experts and women who have tried it will strongly advise you against it. Castor oil may or may not bring on labor but it will definitely make you nauseous, cause you to vomit, have diarrhea and suffer severe cramps so just steer clear of this home remedy.

I am almost 42 weeks pregnant and I have tried several times to have sex to bring on labor and no such luck. The baby will come when he's ready and probably not a day sooner unless your induced. Good Luck with your new addition.

I don't know much about it, but i do know some midwives will ask the woman going into labor and the father of the baby to have sex to help the contractions along, but i think you already have to be in labor.

Ah!! Having a baby is so wonderful, but the very last 2 weeks is a killer. Try it if it doesn't do the job for you it will make your husband think all your b&**&ing is worthwhile. some dr's say this helps some don"t. I personally think only male docs say this, just kidding. Walking is something they say works. I think the baby comes when it is ready no matter what we do, you have waited 9 months what's a few more days or so?

They say that there are prostaglandins is semen that are supposed to help aid in the progress of labor. I tryed having sex and it helped not as much as i wanted but it did.My Dr offered to strip my membranes and that really helped things along (I think it was the combination of the two) as well as walking and keeping hydrated. Dehydration slows down uterine contractions... good luck to you!!!

But i doubt you'd be in the mood and maybe just like on the tv you will go into labour right before you have sex ! You can only hope aye?

i guess, 8 doesn't help at all! as what i read sex is safe during pregnancy but doesn't help in labor. just exercise regularly (exercise for pregnant women) and eat a balance diet.

Prostagladines from the seemen may stimulate labour. That was what we were told by a knowing and informing doc.

So we tried, and it worked. The child was born a week earlier than scheduled, so we avoided a difficult date as his birthday. It could have been a coincidence, but who cares...
