Erm... Have some faith! They have an okay infield with Tex, young, kinsler, and until recently, blalock. with blalock out for a few months its going to be rough going because blalock has been hitting pretty well this year. they will not always be "bad", but we took a blow when DeRosa and matthews left us. and that trade with the nationals (soriano for wilkerson) was one bad move. i just think that we should fire our GM and we'll be just fine.

The Rangers front office has always been in love with hitting. If you look at their past lineup from 1989 to now you will see that they tried to put as many big bats in those lineups as possible. Not once within that time did they ever concentrate on pitching.

If they send the next 2 to 3 years just on upgrading the pitching you could see that team improve some if not a lot because the run support will more than likely be there in that hitter friendly park.

There are a few reasons why the Rangers can't seem to get it right. They tried to spend money on pitching but that backfired on them greatly (Chan Ho Park). That set them back a few years. Another move that set them back was trading Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Young. They are doing well in San Diego and the Rangers only have Otsuka to show for that trade right now.

They also do not have that great of a fielding team. The Rangers have tried to build a team by overpowering the opposition but that hasn't worked even though they are always at or near the top of HRs for a team.

The minor league system is very bare right now, and they keep getting outbid by teams willing to spend for the prized pitcher free agents. (I will say that losing out on Zito wasn't horrible because he is overpaid right now, and that money will get greater return elsewhere.)

If the Rangers are not going to contend this year, the Rangers would be smart to trade Tex for multiple minor leaguers that are ready for AA or AAA, since he will not be back next year. He could help a contender get over the hump.

The Rangers, as always, need some good pitching, and they probably have to pay a premium to attract any free agent pitchers to their bandbox ballpark.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to try and trade Teixeira to the Devil Rays for some of their amazing pitching prospects, but I doubt that the Rays would bite. Teixeira should be the least of the Rangers' concerns, as he's easily their best hitter and is a great value at $6.4 million.

TERRIBLE pitching, that is why. If they could get some competent starters, their entire team would get better as their bullpen would be more well rested, their defense would be able to make more plays (hard to catch the ball when is it being hit for a HR all the time), morale would be better, fan support higher, etc.

Get some good pitching to go along with their generally stellar offense and they'd be a force.

It's always been the pitching, more specific the starting pitching, their bullpen isn't half bad. Are they still paying a portion of Arods contact?

Good question. Would have to place the blame on ownership for a lack of committment to the team and its development.
