I think it was about four years ago. I actually didn't call for a tow. My car was small, and there's a shop not far from here. The road is fairly level from here to there, and the only time you have to hit the main road is to cross the street to the shop. So I decided to just push the fool thing myself instead of wasting the money. (Just in case anyone is wondering how I managed to push the car- I just hung the driver door open and pushed with one hand while steering with the other and went slow enough that I would be able to jump in quick and hit the brakes if I needed to stop. Funny thing- After I had the old thing for some years, it was barely running... And I used the "push method" of starting it all the time. I would "run-push" it down the road, jump in, and "crank".)

Not long after I started pushing, an old man driving a tow truck pulled up and asked where I was headed. Then he offered to take me and my car the rest of the way since it wasn't far. I called my husband and told him what I was doing (where I was going, the name of the man's tow business, etc) as a safety measure, of course. Then we went to the shop. After putting my car in the garage, I asked the man, "Are you sure I don't owe you anything?" That dirty old fart grabbed my boob and said, "You just paid me."

My reaction was definitely not a pleasant. I hit that jack a*s upside his head with my purse (in which I happened to be carrying a full bottle of water since I had planned on pushing the car and assumed that I would get pretty hot). He called the police on me and wanted to file charges. But luckily a couple of the mechanics saw him grab my boob and told the officer. So the officer told him that any judge would be likely to rule self-defense and that I would be at liberty to file charges as well. So the dirt bag let it drop. I didn't file charges because, if my husband would have found out what happened, "all hell would have broke loose".

That wasn't my first, or last, jacked up encounter with a man.

December 26, 2005 was the day I totaled my Ford Escort. I still don't know what happened. I looked both ways and pulled out of a gas station and bam. My car was totaled. I knew it was bad when it said check oil, check battery, check engine, check coolant, etc. When I tried to put it in park it wouldn't go. LOL. I was taken to the hospital on a stupid board cause I said my neck was hurting but my neck was hurting before thte wreck. Just hurt a little bit more afterwards. I was ok with just a few bruises and sure was sore. The accident was said to be my fault even though I have no clue what happened or where that other vehicle came from. I had to get another car and am still making payments.

In a blizzard (3 years ago).. Didn't know cars couldn't be left on the road during blizzards (to allow snowplows to do their job) No one told me! but the $75 towing fee taught me a lesson LOL.

January 26th- we got bad gas when we filled up the tank and our car quit working 3 blocks from the gas station. We stalled at a busy intersection during rush hour traffic. It was so scary because people we just down right nasty about it, flipping us off and cursing at us. We even almost got hit a few times.

when i was stationed on Okinawa, i parked unknowingly in a tow away zone. at the time, you had to pay a fine to the police, and an EQUAL amount to the post office (?). anyway, it took me 2 days to get my car back, and it cost me the equivalent of, no joke, $750.00.
