I have 2 tanks, both filled with goldfish and pleco, the only difference is that one tank has a bigger goldfish and a bigger pleco. In the big tank, the pleco and the goldfish seem to get along fine, each one minding their own business. But for the small tank, the pleco just run off to the corner near the filter and it rarely comes out. I don't see the goldfish pick on it or anything. Can someone tells me what's is the problem here? Is the goldfish bullying the pleco at night that I didn't see?

Yes, I have heard of pleco harming goldfish, not the other way around, but this is really weird. When I put the little pleco with the big goldfish, I saw the little pleco running away, so I thought it must be the size since the goldfish is 2 or 3 times bigger than the pleco, so I bought a pleco of about the same size of that goldfish, and it all seems fine. Then I put the little pleco in with the little goldfish, which is about the same size, but it is still running, it is really weird...

My big tank is pretty clean since the big pleco has been eating all the leftover foods and stuffs, but my small tank keeps getting dirty, so I don't think that my pleco go out at night

Plecos are nocturnal, so it is normal that he is hiding during the day.

no, the goldfish is not bullying your pleco. when my pleco was still small it also stayed only on the corners of the aquarium and rarely goes up the sides. but now that it has reached the same size as my goldfish he's always chasing my golfish trying to suck it.

your tank with the smaller pleco is probably less clean because the size of your pleco consequently limits the amount of slime it will be able to suck. but when it grows it will become bolder and will even swim backwards and go to the top and eat the floating pellets(if you're using one).

wait for it to grow and it would be the one chasing the goldfish if he's hungry.

Plecos are nocturnal, so during the day the corner by the filter is probably the darkest and most peaceful place for the pleco to stay out of the way of the goldfish.

at the same time as I dont propose it, the surely numbers are Goldfish 5-25c Pleco 20- 28c So there is an overlap. this isn't any longer proper for both fish, yet thay can manage it. both are huge messy fish, so filtering isn't an problem, they both elect it. there is the slime sucking problem with fancy goldfish, so be very carefull there. yet a one hundred gal tank with a pair of comets and a huge pleco kept at 22C, it would want to artwork. It may just like all the algae near the filter. I have never heard of goldfish harming a pleco, though plecos have been known to suck on ill goldfish.

More fish, More algae! Every great once in a while a goldfish may nip at a pleco but they usually don't hurt them.
