Changing his diet is not the best thing to do. I would suggest taking him back to the vet for another evaluation. 6 days of diarrhea is not a good sign. No one should begin to diagnose him, it could be any number of things. Good luck :o))

Look, diarrhoea can be caused by a zillion different things: FIP, worms, dietary intoleranced, bacterial infection....

These are questions you should be directing at your vet! Given the number of different causes, no one on here can possibly tell you what the problem is. Only someone who has examined the cat could take a guess - it would take laboratory tests by a professional to pin down a diagnosis.

If the meds don't work, you need to tell your vet! It doesn't mean the vet has been 'wrong' it means they have tried a treatment for the most likely diagnosis, and if it doesn't work they need to try something else. You can of course request that test are run to find the diagnosis, but often with diarrhoea symptomatic treatment works and is therefore better as it's less invasive for the cat and usually cheaper for you.

Go back to the vet!

Unfortunately, diarrhea is a common symptom of a lot of different problems. What medication did the vet prescribe? If it was medication JUST to stop the diarrhea, the problem that was causing it may still be there and the diarrhea may come back.

If you haven't had your kitty worked up yet, a blood chemistry panel and fecal exam would probably be good things to have done. Your vet may recommend other diagnostic testing, based on his or her exam of your pet, as well.

If he is eating and drinking Id say he will be ok. The antibiotics prob are making him thirsty. If he stops eating/drinking then you have a problem and dehydration could set in.
Call the vet if you have anymore questions since they are currently treating it. The antibiotics should do the trick. Give it a week but in the meantime call the vet if you are still worried!
