yes this is for homework, i was supposed to pick any significant event of that time so i couldnt think of anything else, but that was very significant i think toward the decade

If you consider that Elvis was "The King" of rock and roll it becomes quite important. What began as the British Invasion into rock, in the 60's, changed the face of this kind of music and by Elvis' death there was no longer a purely American rock and roll. Of course, there was still Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and many others, but they never seemed to attain the rank of King.

The death of Elvis is significant still. I bet if you checked most people's ipod you would find more Elvis music than any other. I just wonder what kind of music he would do now. I remember the day he died and everyone felt like someone in their family had died. He was down to earth. He was and still is "THE KING"
