Case1 is covered under section 54 of Indian Stamp Duty Act,1899 which provides When any person is possessed of a stamp or stamps which have not been spoiled or rendered unfit or useless for the purpose intended, but for which, he has no immediate use, the Collector shall repay to such person the value of such stamp or stamps in money, deducting [ten naye paise] for each rupee or portion of a rupee, upon such person delivering up the same to be cancelled, and proving to the Collector’s satisfaction :-
that such stamp or stamps were purchased by such person with a bona fide intention to use them; and
that he has paid the full price thereof; and
that they were so purchased within the period of six months next preceding the date on which they were so delivered :
Provided that, where the person is a licensed vendor of stamps, the Collector may, if he thinks fit, make the repayment of the sum actually paid by the vendor without any such deduction as aforesaid.
Case 2 section 53 of the said applies In any case in which allowance is made for spoiled or misused stamps, the Collector may give in lieu thereof-
other stamps of the same description and value; or
if required, and he thinks fit, stamps of any other description to the same amount in value; or,
at his discretion, the same value in money, deducting [ten naye paise] for each rupee or fraction of a rupee.

Old Stamp Paper

Six months from the date of purchase of stamp paper which will be stamped on the paper usually on the right side just below the actual stamp.

You seem to be confused between Validity of stamp paper and the Date of execution of the bond. Date of execution is the date (as shown) on when the bond is signed. If the bond is executed on an expired (out of date) stamp paper, it is invalid at the outset.

maybe i am missing something here - stamp paper for an indemnity bond without a signature?

the paper itself, once it is stamped is valid for a period of six months.

it would not be a valid bond unless properly signed so subsequently the issue does not arise.
maybe you could elaborate on your question.

In fact there is no concept of validity period for an unexecuted stamp paper. It can be used at any time by its purchaser.
In respect of case 1 - If the bond is not dated, there is no prohibition to date it and sign it by the concerned at any time. Even if the date is mentioned on the typed bond it can be duly corrected by the executent under his authentication and execute it - still there is no issue of limitation / validity / expiry here.
