I fell down on my face about 24 hours ago. A black eye has not formed but it is still swollen. I have prom tomorrow. do you think one will form even though one hasnt formed yet?

I fell down on my face about 24 hours ago. and pretty much have a rug burn on my temple. A black eye has not formed but it is still swollen(only i can tell its not noticable unless you touch it). I have prom tomorrow. do you think one will form even though one hasnt formed yet? i have been taking ibuprofin and rotating ice on it all day.

AS THE SWELLING CHANGES CONSISTECY MANY TIMES IT ALSO CHANGES COLOR. MANY TIMES A BLACK EYE DOES NOT APPEAR THE FIRST 24 HOURS.

Dampen a rag with viniger and keep applying to your eye with the eye closed. If you would have done this after it happened, you would have better chance of not having a black eye...May still help though...Good Luck

You cannot stop it. Just maintain it by using a warm wet cloth to wipe around the eyes and get all the goop. My bulldog has a similar problem and we clean his face every other day. Works wonders.
