It sounds more like it was not random but you has the physical description that may have matched a person who committed a serious crime around or near where the crime occurred and the checked your identity and let you go because after interviewing you, they found you did not meet the description of the suspect or think you were a suspicious character.

If you have been accused, shut up (because, like the Miranda rights indicate, anything you san can and will be used against you in a Court of Law) and get a good lawyer as soon as possible!

I personally know of a man that was detained overnight because he matched the physical description of a rapist and the victim incorrectly identified him in a line up (due to coercion by the police) but was let go after much deliberation and after the actual rapist with the same physical characteristics offended again.

Well aparently you didn't get beat up so loose that stereotype, thats not what they are there to do. Remember, these are people with families too.

They can stop you if you fit the description of an individual they may have been looking for. That should make some sense in this situation. It sounds as though you came close to the size, build and race of the person they were looking for, obviousely he was armed. The officer is doing his job and protecting himself too. Nothing more.

You most likely fit a vague description given by a victim of a crime. It is a common practice for the victim to be brought to identify the assailant in this manner. Since I assume you are not asking this from jail, the victim told them you were not the person who committed the crime. Congrats!

common sense explains what happened. you were stopped because you fit the description of someone involved in a recent crime.they brought the vivtim of the crime to see if they could identify you. when they couldn't you were released to be on your way
