If it helps, what's needed in each case is a little word like at, to, on, in, etc. But I liked the dabble your toes thing: very unique.

i'm not sure that i totally get what you mean... when completed it should be a short phrase or you just got to add a word to each of the given??? well i'll just give it a shot and hope someone else can figure what it is you're asking... either that or the answers start dawning on you :D

1. Defer RING--a ring is a word...

2. Dabble Your Toes in the Lake? :) i'm not sure...

3. Desensitized TOOTH--usually you'ld say tooth...

4. Infatuated COUPLE--not sure...

5. Prevail AGAINST ALL ODDS?

6. Infer RING (the evidence OF WHAT??? but ring is a word.)

7. Bonus: Accede THE THRONE--yes i think accede the throne is correct.

8 Bonus: Ingratiate ONESELF--yes i think oneself is correct.
