Well, if you've ever eaten tilapia, you've already eaten a cichlid.

Since yours are aquarium fish, you might have some other things you should consider before you decide to eat yours. Have you ever used any medications, dechlorinators, algae killers, or other chemicals in the tank? If you read the labels on these, you might find that some chemicals are only to be used "for fish not meant for human consumption". Some of the chemicals are carcinogenic. It's something to think about!

Have you thought about contacting your local pet store to see if they would buy them from you? I imagine a little money would be a hell of a lot better than trying to pick through the bones of a cooked cichlid. You could use the cash to buy something with a little more substance.

Sure they are. Well, they're edible, I don't know how good they are - the Tiliapia raised as food for us sure is tasty. Did you know that all the Malawi cichlids we keep as pets are a part of the diet of the local African population?

Lots of privately owned pet stores will take fish for either cash or in-store credit. Call up your local pet stores and see if you could get money or credit for them.
