The USC Thornton music industry program is geared toward students who are interested in practical knowledge regarding a rapidly evolving industry that is largely based in the Los Angeles area. It offers a unique education that blends music, business, academics and hands-on experience for those that seek a career in artist management, the record industry, music publishing, radio, music instrument manufacturing and distribution, professional songwriting, live promotion and production, arts management and other areas of the music industry. Students are guided by a faculty that include current and former industry professionals such as Jerry Del Colliano, Mark Goldstein, Kenneth Lopez, Richard McIlvery, Andrew Garver and others.
With a strong focus on the musical traditions of Europe and the international and American musical styles of the last century, UCLA's undergraduate program in music integrates the superb academic features of a major research university with intensive artistic study. Among the Music faculty are masters from leading orchestras, such as principal musicians with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, first-call studio musicians, recognized composers, theorists, conductors, and scholars. At any given time, students may study with prominent artists as well as a faculty that includes individuals of national and international repute. Currently, elligible students receive free private instruction.

As a professor at the University of SouthCentral Los Angeles, I would say it is an outstanding school. The programs offer real case studies, assignments and teach students to excel in the real world.
