I'm so disappointed...I went to college for about a year and a half before I realized that it wasn't my cup of tea, so I dropped out...Maybe I should've stayed, but I had made my decision. So, I'm not working right now, and I feel like I'm at a stand-still....I don't know what job I should even go for--McDonalds is OUT of the question..lol--so is Walmart! I don't know what I should do~right now, good ole mom & dad are helping me out..I'm bored and worried...Any suggestions?

I also have only 1 year of college under my belt. I suggest you try going to a temp agency that hires office staff. They'll start you off with repetative/boring jobs, and if you do good, you'll work your way up to better & better temporary jobs each time you make your employers client happy. A lot of employers that use you as a temp may become interested in hiring you full time. I started at a crummy data entry job for $9.00/hr, and now I'm a fuel supply agent for BP and make a great income (almost triple what I was making at my first temp job).

Become very proficient with MS Excel and everything with MS Office and you'll be a shoe-in for a lot of jobs. The crummy jobs you get on the way up only add to your experience (I also worked as an editorial assistant for a large newspaper, I was responsible for reviewing thousands of resumes for hundreds of security positions at US Air Force Bases, and I can't remember what else...)

Its possible, but very difficult. You hear wonder stories of millionaires who without a college education built an empire and were very successful. However, that's not how most people without a degree will end up.

I have always advocated betterment through education. College sucks at times and its a grind for sure. However, it gets better when you hit the classes for your major. The first two years of school for me were hell, but after I was able to take mainly business classes, it got a lot better.

Another option would be the military. They will pay for a lot of your education and it might be the direction you need before you start your post-secondary education.

But right now, sitting and doing nothing isn't getting you anywhere, so look deep in your heart and try to find some direction.

Good luck!

If you're not doing anything now anyway, go back to school. You'll have more options with a degree.

It's hard but it can be done. Eventually you will hit a glass ceiling if you ever have dreams of entering management... *sigh*
