yes your deffinately going to want to. Your going to be there a few days probly. I just had my baby three months ago and I stayed at the hospital for 5 days. I went in to get induced because I was past my due date. I checked in at around 12pm with my husband then didnt have the baby untill 6am the next morning. When they transferred us into our room. They gave me these really thick long sanitary pads, a spray bottle and some anti bacterial spray that helps kill pain. I had to change pads like every hour because there is so much blood and stuff coming out of you after having the baby. And i didn't stop bleeding for about 3 and a half weeks. I also got cut by the doctor down there to widen the "entrance" three times. Its pretty painful for a little while.

But keep that spray bottle and what works really well is witch hazel. You can find it next to the rubbing alcohol in the stores. Put in the spray bottle or on some baby wipes or cotton ball and rub it on. It disinfects and it helps relieve the pain. By the way the doc told me I couldnt have sex for 60 days. LOL that really sucked.

i did with all four of my children. after the birth you are really messy and yucky even though the midwives clean you up a bit.
they weigh your baby and do all the tests and then will either mind baby for you, or have your partner mind baby and you have a shower and clean yourself up and put one fresh clothing or pyjamas and a sanitary pad
it is really nice to have the shower after all the sweating and stress and mess - though sometimes they have a plastic seat in the shower for you to sit on incase you lost a lot of blood during the delivery and get faint - there is a buzzer in the shower if you need a nurse.
then you come out and feel fresh and can rest and cuddle your beautiful new little treasure.

Since I had a epidural, I wasn't allowed to get out of bed for a few hours after giving birth, so I slept. I had the baby at midnight and by the time they got me up to pee, it was about 3 or 4 a.m. and I wasn't about to take a shower then.

I didn't take my first shower until the morning after I delivered -- before any visitors had a chance to pop in on me. So I suppose every situation is different depending on the time you deliver the baby.

I gave birth at 11:45pm and had a shower when I woke up the next morning. The nurses do a good job of cleaning you up after the birth, but there's nothing like a good shower to make you feel super clean!

If I had only known. That is all I wanted to do. Of course I passed out on the way to the bathroom about a half hour after delivery, but the nurses wouldn't let me shower. I really should have demanded it because when my ObGyn visited the next morning he was dumbfounded I hadn't been able to do that. Remember, you are in control of your experience. MAKE them let you shower.

You don't have to, but they'd like you too. I hear it makes you feel better. I couldn't. I got a fever while in labour and was put on IV and given antibiotics. They kept me on the IV for like.... an entire day..... ugh it made me swollen like HELL! I did finally get shower after they removed it before I left the hospital. Made me feel a LOT better! I passed a blood clot in the shower, which was a good thing. It helped clean me out more.

I showered as soon as the epidural came out of my spine after both of my c-sections. I just used the sit down part when I got tired and reassured myself that if I couldn't handle it there was an emergency call thingie in the shower.

Being clean is important!

My mom told me that when she had me (I was born at 5:16 am) they took me out of the room and after all of them were out she hopped right in the shower. She said she felt disgusting. She got yelled at by the nurse, gave her a polite f*** you and got in the shower anyway. So yes... you're going to want to take a shower.

You don't HAVE to take a shower, but I did, the next morning, and was VERY pleased to do so. I had gone into labor at 11 p.m. on a Sunday night, and didn't get to shower until Tuesday morning, thanks to the timing of the delivery.

yes you do you have a private shower and it will feel so good because you get so sweaty having a baby. You usually don't do it right after. I had a nap after having my kids and then showered.
