pass it by.
i've seen too much corruption, greed, etc. on this earth for me to think it worth giving up my own life for someone i don't know.
the prospect of an eternal life would be tempting, but not without a physical body. what good is eternal life if you can't experience the pleasures and pains that go along with it?

Eternal solitude in exchange for the ultimate benefit of man kind. Would you take it or pass it by? Very probably pass.
I divide your question in two parts. The first one is that my sacrifice will be a benefit to the people around me. I would pass on the gift. There is a limit to what you can ask from the fellow man to do for you. Their benefit is satisfying, but does not match the price I pay. I am sure my fellow man would not do the same for me, for the same reasons.
The second part is that my sacrifice will be a benefit to the humanity at large. You are saying to take eternal solitude for the power to change humanity, to mold human history. It would be very wrong to take that power. I am not God, my wisdom is limited. I would be overstepping boundaries if I intervene. I also believe in free will. If the humanity makes choices that end up in our extinction, I must respect that choice, particularly if I am only a ghost and not a full participant.

without hesitation. We all in our own way strive for something greater, and for me it is spiritual (not religious) If I were given the opportunity to heal then I would be a hipocrate not to take it. I say this because I do all that I can in this world to help others and effect change and think I am quite a selfless person, so letting go of this worlds material self to become what I strive to be would be the ultimate gift.

I would say no, seeing all the pain, suffering in the world caused by senseless people, but would be a selfish answer.
There are good people out there, who don't deserve the pain they are in.
This is a question, that if was possible the person would have to seriously think about.
I honestly don't know if I could.

No, I wouldn't. I'm not looking to be a hero for mankind. I just want to raise my daughter and enjoy life with my family. Life is too short.
Besides, I'm a bit sour about people right now. I just quit my grocery store job primarily because people are so damn rude today! I'm not feeling very people friendly now. People can beat the crap out of you emotionally!

I'm glad I don't have to choose. If I knew the offer would be presented to another trusted soul, I would pass it up. Heck, it would be a great time to stay around what with someone ridding the world of bad.

Yes, I would. My life isn't more or less important then someone else's. If I could save hundreds of lives, I would because together those 100 people will become so much more than me, as one person, could ever become.

i would do it, even though i do not believe in becoming a spirit or anything like that, i will play along...
i would do it simply because maybe that life that i gave mine for, may become something great and may do something of greatness in it... and if not him/her maybe their child or their child... somewhere along the road i would hopefully make a difference that way because i know, with me still breathing and me pushing forward everyday, will not make a difference... i hope my life uproars the next revolutionary.

I don't think I could do it......but then again, I'm not a parent.
It all depends on what you think or believe exists once you have died.
