Could it have something to do with the right's belief in "traditional values" and traditional roles for women (aka in the kitchen)?

I know not all Republicans think like that, but Republicans like Pat Robertson do. According to him, women should submit to their husbands as the head of the household and that's just the way it is.

I don't know about the House women, but I do know that Republican senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe (both from Maine) are quite liberal.

"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."
- Sept. 11, 1992, quoting a PAT ROBERTSON newsletter.

"The feminist agenda is notabout equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
- from a Pat Robertson's letter used to raise money to defeat an Equal Rights Amendment for women in Iowa

JERRY FALWELL ON THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR WOMEN

"And we're going to invite PETA [to "Wild Game Night"] as our special guest, P-E-T-A -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. We want you to come, we're going to give you a top seat there, so you can sit there and suffer. This is one of my special groups, another one's the ACLU, another is the NOW -- the National Order of Witches [sic]. We've got -- I've got a lot of special groups."
- From Falwell's Nov 21 televised service, broadcast from his Thomas Road Baptist Church

Mr Perf,

What are you talking about? Rush Limbaugh is a three time divorcee. So is Rudolph Guiliani. Newt Gingrish has only divorced two times, but he was cheating on his last wife with house aid while at the same time attacking Bill Clinton for doing the same.

1. Conservatism is not controlled by Pat Robertson and James Dobson and the former Jerry Falwell. They are influential in evangelical Christianity and evangelical Christianity tends toward Conservatism. But don't get all confused. The two are not necessarily interchangeable.
2. As a woman attorney and a member of the so-called Christian right, I can tell you that if I ran for something, I could probably get elected. Your stereotyping is just hilarious.
3. There is no question that more female politicians are liberal. I think that is because there is no question that for a woman (of any political bent) to go into a life of politics requires some difficult choices. No one can do it all. Something has to give. Conservative women refuse for that something to be their families. I don't know what Liberal women do about this, and I don't want to make some outlandish claims (like you).
4. Liberal men are no less likely to be stereotypical in their male female roles than Conservative men are. This is a person by person thing. Not a party thing.
5. Jerry was right about the NOW. They sold women out bad.

The Democratic party will always have the biggest tent, what we've seen over the last few years is actually a purging, I honestly believe that soon we're headed in the right direction, the conservatism espoused by Reagan, Bush 1, and the idiot child of Bush 1 will show once and for all that a democracy cannot function when the interests of a few are the National interest and instead we are headed to a new age of great notational development and prosperity under democratic leadership as was the case PRIOR to Reagan, Just look at us as a nation under primarily Democratic Rule and Republican rule with little exception this nation has always been better for the masses when the Dems are in control

Where would Hillary Clinton be if she weren't married to Bill? Nobody would have heard of her or from her. You keep telling yourself that it is because of patriarchy. Someone's gotta raise all those kids that we don't abort. Ooops! Did I go too far? Why do the feminists think that if women don't take the feminist path we are dumb and easily manipulated? The only problem with giving women the choice on what to do, work or raise kids, we just might make the decision to raise the kids, at least the ones that get to survive the womb. And I know how you feminists hate that. It never really was a decision, was it? Instead of women being put in a particular position by men, now they are put in a position by women. Hello, I can make a decision!

It has does have much to do with the traditional values. Many conservative women understand the value of being mothers. They understand that it is the hardest job on the planet and probably the most rewarding. They understand that when they are not there for their children it drastically reduces the possibility for that child to be successful and well rounded.

I am not sure why women have this complex that they need to be just like men. News flash... women are different! Women have a completely different type of skill sets that most men can't handle. Men should honor and respect their women. I believe women should be educated and supported in what they want to do and accomplish. My wife is a stay at home Mom to my children and she owns her own home based business... She is absolutely incredible. My children as well as myself are lucky to have a Mom and Wife that understands the importance of motherhood and he impact on our family is awesome.

This being said, I have no problem with women aspiring to be or do whatever they want. Their family or husbands should support them every step of the way (if it is a goal that is praiseworthy). Personally, I like my wife being a woman, being feminine Gosh, I look at Hillary and Pelosi and Rosie and it is no surprise why men run the other way.

Because conservatives hate women. They think the primary job of a woman is to function as a brood mare for the state. Live babies grow up to be dead solders.

It seems you've asked this question before, and I answered it.... why are you repeating yourself???

Here's another answer for you...

Democrat women have nothing better to do with their time... like raising good, Judeo/Christian, conservative babies or working hard at a real job.

How's that sound for your collection?

The liberal ethos has the potential to free women of the shackes of standard social function. The conservative ethos is defined by the desires of insecure men who can only sense their personal value through the devaluing of others.

Because Republicans will not vote for a women just because she is a women. We prefer qualified candidates. If you vote with your heart you end up with an embarrassment like Nancy Palosi.
