It seems that GM owns Nascar. I see Fords smoking Chevy's at the drag strip every weekend. Here in the North East USA. Fords and Dodges rule the tracks. I don't get it!

It's too bad that they cater to the few. It sounds like they have their priorities wrong.

On the other hand, it is much easier to create performance cars without having it look good. When designing cars for the masses, the engineers have to worry about it looking good enough so that the public will buy it.
The holy grail for engineers is to have a car that runs good but looks good while doing so.
Hopefully, the '09 Camaro will accomplish that task for GMC.

Not all the Chevy teams in NASCAR are using the new R07 engine and many still use the old ones. Some are only using it at certain races or for a few cars but not the entire teams. Ford seems to have given up since they havnt touched their engine in a few years and everybody caught and passed them. There are plenty of fast Chevys, Ford, and Dodges at a drag strip. Most have some type of modifcations on them. I think GM makes plenty of reliable cars and track too.

All of the Chevrolet camps in Nextel Cup have switched over to the new LSX Bowtie Motor. It was designed by by The GM Performance parts division and Warren "The Professor" Johnson. The cast iron block weighs only 224 lbs. and accepts all Gen III & IV heads, cranks and cams.

Hendrick Motorsports have done smarter testing than everyone else combuned with the new "Car of Tomarrow". Every team is allowed the same amount of testing and regardless what "The whiner drivers" at Jack Rouch are saying it's apparent their cars don't handle well. The Ford motors are heavy and that means too much nose weight.

Not one of "The World of Outlaws" teams use Fords. Go to an Outlaw show some time and talk to Donny Schotz or Steve Kinser and ask why.

Get away from the dragstrip and see some north east oval track action. The only Fords you'll find are sitting in the parking lots.

The chevys in NASCAR have a brand new engine package this year. The rest of them might catch up enough to compete by next season, but I don't think they will. Chevy has on fire the last couple of seasons and they win the manufacturers championship almost every year.
