How can HyVee grocery store pay their sackers 5 dollars an hour? Isn't that below minimum wage? Also 5.50 for the older sackers and 6 dollars for cashiers. And this is right in the center of the Johnson County, one of the top 5 richest counties in the US. Even the dollar store around here starts out at more than that. How is it legal to pay under minimum wage?

Yes I'm pretty sure about my facts, but those that get paid 5 an hour are 14 year olds, perhaps their age lets them get away with it?

Yes, $5 an hour is below minimum wage anywhere in the US (federal minimum is $5.15 an hour, and many states have a higher minimum), and no, HyVee can't legally pay that, even as a starting wage to trainees.

Are you very sure of your facts? It would be pretty strange for a company that big to do such gross and obvious violating of wage laws.
