1. What are the items that would be included in care packages during World War 1 and 2(not in present day)?

2. The organizations that gave these packages always wrote a letter with the package. What Would the letter include?

I would check the USO and the Red Cross history. (see links below) The Red Cross would have been sending them in WWI, and both the Red Cross and USO in WWII. The one thing that come to mind they sent back then that they wouldn't send today would be cigarettes, and possibly condoms.

Many of the Red Cross packages contained some basics for the troops.
Women at home would knit, socks and gloves, balaclavas and jumpers, add some razor blades, toothpaste and soap.etc

It was one of the few things my father ever talk about after WW II. Often the parcel were addressed to a person who had died so the contents were passed onto somebody else in the unit

I know that during WWI the American Red Cross sent food packets to the people in occupied Belgium. Especially the bacon was warmly remembered.

During WWII care packets for GIs contained special GI pocket books printed on thin "Bible" paper. I got a collection of suspense stories around here somewhere. That's how I learned my first serious English.
