Ultimate Frisbee and Frisbee Golf?

I'm trying to get back in shape, but wanted a fun and competitive way to do it. I heard someone mentioning Ultimate Frisbee and Frisbee Golf. What are the differences between these two and their rules?

Essentially, ultimate is a fast-paced, energetic sport involving frisbee throwing. The basic idea being to pass the frisbee between players on your team until eventualy, one of your team manage to catch it in the opposition end-zone.
Frisbee golf is alot slower paced and is more about technique and accuracy in throwing the disc.
If you're looking for something to improve your fitness, definately go for ultimate.

Ultimate Frisbee is, for all intents and purposes, football with a frisbee.

Frisbee golf or disc golf is just that - golf with a frisbee instead of a golf ball and clubs. Your target is a basket vs. a hole, but the goal is the same.

You'll get in much better shape playing ultimate.

Ultimate is more aerobic/anaerobic. Ease into it so that you gradually work up to the work load. Go too hard too soon when you're not in shape and you can hurt yourself. Either way, drink plenty of fluids during and afterwards.

The US National governing body of Ultimate is The Ultimate Players Association (link below). You can get information about rules (look for the "Ultimate in 10 Simple Rules" summary for starters - the official rules are much denser, and probably more than you need concern yourself with until you start playing competitively), local pick-up games, leagues, tournaments, teams, etc.

If you're really into disc golf, you can try your hand at "speed golf" where you run after your throws and run from basket/target to basket/target.
