Solving an inequality is much like solving an equation, with the exception that:

Multiplying or dividing both sides of the inequality by a negative number reverses the sense of the inequality. That is, a < (less than) relationship becomes a > (greater than) and vice versa. Similarly, the <= (less than or equal to) will transform into the >= (greater than or equal to) relational operator and vice versa.

Reversing the sides of the inequality also reverses the sense of the inequality.

Subtracting 0.6x from both sides gives

0.3x + 3 > 0

Adding 3 to both sides gives

0.3x > -3

Dividing both sides by 0.3 finally gives

x > -10

The sense of the inequality remains the same because we are dividing by a positive rather than a negative number.

first subtract .6x from both sides
0.9x + 3 > 0.6x

0.3x +3 > 0 subtract 3 from both sides

0.3x > -3 divide both sides by 0.3

x > -10
