How many years has it been since you graduated? If you don't go, you probably won't have missed much. People do change over the years but if you were relatively unoticed then, you probably still would be.
My graduating class was 21 students - 11 guys, 10 girls. When my 10 year reunion came up, I went fishing at a mountain lake. A lot took place with me during those 10 years - two tours in Vietnam and one year of college. There were two of us who went in the military and he was the only one I wanted to see. He didn't show up for the reunion, either.
I saw one woman I went to school all 12 years with shortly after my second enlistment and tour in Vietnam. She didn't recognize me as I was in uniform and I had to tell her who I was. I saw another former classmate in '89 who I also went all 12 years with in school. (We graduated in '66.) I recognized her right away, but she didn't recognize me. Last September, I saw a former classmate who came to my parents' memorial service. We didn't recognize each other. He was a jock in school. Now he is bald, fat, and on oxygen at the age of 58. He didn't recognize me as I now have white hair and beard and am a bit heavier than I should be. I am going home again this September (hadn't been home for over 20 years) and hope to see him. I wouldn't mind seeing the two ladies again, but as for the rest of them, even after 41 years have passed since graduation, I feel like they can take a photograph of my lower backside, post it by their door and kiss it every time they walk by.
I am a disabled veteran and have been in a veterans' home the last 16 years.

I have the same feelings when our class hosted a reunion, I did not attecn instead just sent my pledge. But last May 19, 2007 I went back to the place of my high school and met three of my closest classmates and my I regretted why I did not attend the class reunion! I found out only then after 29 years that my classmates regarded me as an intellegent student he he he he!

I went to my reunion. Normally I wouldn't have, but my parents still live in the same town. So, I figured I could visit them at the same time. I regretted going. I am so different from my closest high school friends that we didn't have much to say to each other. The rest of the people there...well I didn't like them in High school, and I am quite indifferent to them now. It was like being in a room full of strangers. I was uncomfortable, but I tried to be pleasant. I will not be going to the next one or any other in the future.

What reunion? I was a miliatary brat, so I attended 3 different high schools during my teen-age years. :\
The notion is quite silly to me. Most of the people I knew in high school have moved to other states or very far away from the high school, and their lives have changed so much that they couldn't be bothered with such trivial nonsense as a high school reunion and wouldn't show up anyway.

I totally agree with you. I was the same way. I have nothing to prove to anyone in high school; though I think I do sometimes. The only person you have to worry about pleasing is yourself. Anybody who I want to see I already keep in contact with. That is a girl I've known since 7th grade. We are the best of friends. There is nobody else I want to go back and see. They want to gloat about their lives and how they lost touch. They lead superficial and fake lives. The people I went to high school with were nothing but snobs. I didn't go to prom. I didn't want to go to graduation, but my parents really wanted me to go. I just don't care about any of their lives.
