Ok im Tryna get a LAPTOP under 1,500 good for gaming and school work(microsoft word,powerpoint),and multimedia such as uploadind videos on youtube and myspace. Should I choose from AMD or Intel Duo? HP? Dell? Apple? (NOT GATEWAY PERSONAL THING) I sometimes multitask playing a game and typing an essay. Please answer and state reasons. people say intels better for multitasking....

Both AMD and intel are proven safe and reliable. I work for a major mfgr and have owned both AMD and intel. Currently intel is the chip of choice, but the two yoyo all the time. As far as Brands, Yes stay away from emachines and gteway. If cost is no object Falcoln Northwest, XPS, Alienware, voodoo. If VALUE is important Dell is best, followed by hp, compaq, toshiba. There will be a pricewar in July and in mid july intel will drop prices. Wait if as long as you can before you need the computer as prices will drift down

For gaming dont buy a mac for gaming, there is simply very few titles which are mainly windows ports. Get an intel core 2 duo. dont get a laptop with an intel graphics board or amd/ati video card with low 2 digit like 6150, for 1500 you should probably be able to get a 7600. amd is crap.
