You are right, it is shallow. This idol-worship you speak of is one of the main stereotypes against Americans: Americans are obsessed with money and fame. Especially when celebs act as poorly as they do. I think people who worship celebs are sick, and I also think alot of celebs are hypocrites. "I gave less than 1% of my earnings this year to charity. That makes me a hero, mrumph...."

I guess people need something to connect to. Life is so hard that to see someone making it out there and "acting" out a life they would like makes it a little easier. We see an actor being a millionaire and we dream we can become one. I am not impressed by celebrities. I've met a few and I was so impressed. I guess people see them as some form of escapism of some kind. I don't judge, I just figure some people have done greater things and don't get the recognition they deserve.

Dear Ms Ordinary, you are no Ordinary person...I see you are smart and brilliant actually.. You are correct in your assumption of that celebrity Idol worship is shallow..May I add that it is a waste of time, money and energy.. There is so much more out there that really needs are immediate attention, and those Celebrities really should get a real life, and not worshipers that only reinforce their shallowness.
That's how I see it.

The ONLY celebrity that I have ever gone crazy for is Orlando Bloom . . . but I do not OBSESS for him . . . i just admire him because he is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS and I enjoy how well he acts . . . but yes, why OBSESS over celebrities?!? I do not know him well, i do not know if he is a jerk or not, and you guys are right; I could care less if he was 'seen on a date' or 'adopted kids' or 'is walking his dogs on the beach' and other crap that they put in magazines . . . the only thing I would really care about is if he was coming out with some movie that I could happily look forward to seeing in theatres!

Hahaha, Gonzo sounds really mature and classy. I can tell from his response to you that he's not shallow at all...he .seems very deep and intelligent! haha yeah right,.
People are obsessed with celebrities because the media tell them to. They've grown up with celebs being thrown in their face all the time, with the media telling them to worship them.

I agree. the girls are overly loopy approximately them. and that i could agree that no females could fall for lots of the single course adult adult males, particularly Harry varieties who's far goofy looking. If Zayn Malik grew to become right into a customary guy i could nonetheless fall for him. Lol... acceptance equals appeal lots of the time for us females. Oh and btw, they're gifted. they have angelic voices. Justin Bieber's voice now sounds like a sandpaper rubbing on timber. i won't stand that little (and relatively lovable) bastard.

Ohhh, are you bitter because you have no talent..
Or is it because you're not pretty and lack attention..
It's ok, maybe one day if you work hard enough you'll be able to afford plastic surgery and make yourself pretty, maybe then someone will notice you and you'll be on the spotlight for once in your life.... Good luck with that!

They're what many people want to be like. They reach seemingly unattainable goals. They have disposable incomes...and they're still people with problems like you and I.
