Depending on the dollar amount of the check you might not be able to cash the check. It used to be that cashiers checks were guaranteed funds. Now-a-days because of all of the nigerian scams nothing but cash is considered guaranteed funds. A bank is not going to cash a large dollar amount check for you because you don't have funds to back it up.

Your best bet is going to be a check cashing place like check & go or something like that. You will probably lose 20 to 30% in fees.

You could us the check to open a new account but the bank is allowed to put a hold on the check for up to 10 business days and maybe more if the check is a large dollar amount.

Check n Go = A Check Cashing Place

What is the Bank that the check is drawn on? You can go to the Bank that the check is written from and bring your ID to CASH the Cashier's Check.

What is the amount?

GOOD LUCK! :-)

You can try a check cashing place. They usually charge a high fee. My recommendation is to open an account and deposit the check. By law it will be available the next business day. No charge.
