One knife, but I wipe the peanut butter off (always peanut butter first) on the second piece of bread so that it's clean when I dip it into the jelly... OR... marshmallow cream. Yeah, fluffer nutter!

I use 2 utensils, and since I put the jelly on one piece of bread & the peanut butter in another, then they go into each other

I don't really eat those anymore like I did when I was younger but I think back then I would dip the peanut butter first, then the jelly. The peanut butter is more sticky so the jelly usually stays in the peanut butter and can get moldy.

Don't worry -- this is not too deep a question for me. I use the same knife, first for the peanut butter, then I wipe the peanut butter off on the second slice of bread before putting the knife in the jelly. No cross-contamination!

I use one utensil, why waste two. Usually there is peanut butter in the jelly.

I always put on the peanut butter first, then wipe the knife off on the other slice of bread. That way I don't get too much pb in the jelly. I hate doing dishes, so one knife is all I need.

I use the same knife for both leaving behind bits of peanut butter in the jelly, and jelly in the peanut butter, just to piss my wife off.
Then I always cut the crusts off my sammich.

Welch's jelly now comes in a squeeze bottle. Problem solved!
Before that, I used two utensils: a knife for the PB and a spoon for the jelly. It works better that way.
