Yes. For many years, I tolerated my brother because he was my brother, but I absolutely hated the person he was, and only started to like him after he grew up a little...at the age of 36.

I think it is possible, but you should try to work on whatever issues that have made you feel this way. Otherwise the hatred will eat at you and make you bitter.
That said, just because you "forgive" doesn't mean you have to "forget" or even associate with that family member again.
Move on with your life and associate only with people who make you a better person.
