GOOD QUESTION !
For women there are no divisions, as with almost everything else, the way they see it. They are free to pursue experimentation with their "liberation" without the inconvenience of responsibility, accountability or social norms/mores.
But men are required to carry the weight of social norms and maintaining the civilization. This is why men are considered CROSS DRESSERS if they wear women's clothing. Only men have these sort of stigmas uniformly applied to them, women fight for freedom from these mores, AKA feminism !

Wow, I had no idea the Chinese did that. It a *great* idea. Especially for children's clothing - I often buy things for my little girl in the boy's section, and occasionally things for my sons in the girl's section. I'm not a fan of either the baby prostitute look or the obsessed with sports look, and that seems to be the vast majority of kids' clothing these days. When I find solid-color tees and denim shorts in either section, I buy them in all sizes.
I think your idea would really open up some options for people. As it is DH and I share the same men's white socks - We're close enough to the same shoe size, and I can wash them all at once and pop them back into the drawer. People should really be able to just buy clothes that suit them, and not be limited by other people's ideas about what they should want. Besides, I hate the assumption that I would want to wear binding polyester clothing, while my husband is presented with lots of comfy cotton choices.
Go for it!

Everything has a limit on a society, some male clothes aren appropiate even for males on certain working environment, same for females.
As for who can wear that, well surely will be good we can wear any kind of clothes, no matter the gender, as long as it looks good and not too funny, who cares, we perform better when we feel good about us, wouldnt you work better wearing what you want?
On the real side, I dont see that coming anytime soon, but some changes are being slowly accepted.

I think that in America women wearing men's clothing is a step up in terms of being able to move outside of the stereotypical clothing for their gender.
With our sexist and homophobic attitude, a man wearing women's clothing is a disgrace, humiliating and a step down.
A woman wears a pants suit to be taken more seriously and conversely a man who wears a dress would not be taken seriously at all.
Perhaps unisex clothing exists in China because it is fashionable. In America we base fashion on the hyper-sexuality of girls and women and this creates in larger difference in styles.
The world knows that America is not the cutting edge place for fashion.

I wear sarongs around the house. I'm wearing one now. (No peeking!) Personally clothing is a comfort thing. My uniforms are still predominantly white and blue but I have also worked for one Nursing Agency that issued Me with pink shirts. The color never bothered Me. It seemed to be Women who passed comments more that Men. Things like, " leave Your socks in the wash", and "nice shirt" (not said in a nice way) were the nornal quips. When I reminded Them that the discrimination against another over the colour of Their uniform is politically incorrect, Their attitude suddenly changed to being one of, "Good on You for being "BRAVE" enough to wear pink". A true 'can't win either way' situation.
Wear what You like....but avoid gold lame.

I see your point about clothing styles, however, due to differences in body shape, some of us women need particular clothing. For example, a woman with curves needs a particular cut of jeans, shirts, etc. I personally find it very difficult to fit into men's jeans/clothes (and even many brands of women's clothes) because there is no place for my hips or chest to go! I'm not fat, just curvey. It seems that most clothes are designed for thin people without much shape to their bodies; this frustrates the rest of us!

I certainly hope so. I have always that that we women had an unfair advantage. Our clothes are so colorful and varied. I agree that clothing should never be gender specific. If it makes you happy, wear it, at least in theory. If you look to the past men dressed in lace and high heels, and men wore make-up before women did.

Women have in many ways been forced to adopt men's clothing for certain activities, or as a way to be viewed as equals in the "power circles". No matter who you are what you wear has a impact on how you are perceived.

The idea needs to get more positive feedback from the public before the business does anything about it. I have never seen a guy in a skirt, unless it was Halloween or he was wearing a kilt. I seriously doubt that it'll become a trend.
Women may be able to wear the same types of clothes as men, but they are of different styles. When was the last time you saw a bias-cut men's business suit?
In conclusion, I wouldn't be opposed to this idea, but I would be uncomfortable shopping at a store that did this.

I certainly hope that they'll do that here someday, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. In the meantime, wear whatever you like, if you can find it in your size. Just because the marketers and many fellow citizens are incapable of understanding the idea doesn't mean you have to limit yourself.
