How do I fix a crooked foot rest on a recliner?

I'm concidering buying a used double recliner. The owner tells me the foot rest is "slanted" on one side when extended. How difficult is this to fix?

Look at the linkages that raise and lower the foot rest. They may be just bent slightly but they may also be broken. It should be easy to compare the braces on each side while looking.
