Angels cry for joy when a soul repents . That is the only reference recorded of angels crying. It is real and symbolic.

I heard all of these symbolic lines when after I became an grown-up. I never heard them as a child. I was never taught such things as a child. We were always taught that the Angels were in Heaven and there they were very Happy with Baby Jesus, Mary, St. Joseph and all the other Angels and Saints. And they were very, very Joyful all the time, and sang and danced.. We never talked about Angels crying when I was young, and now I have a hard time picturing an Angel crying.. aren't they doing God's will, no matter what happens.. God is Good, He knows what is best.

and thunder either God is bowling or really pissed off so the angels start to cry. I love lightning though, has to be some of the closest things to perfect on this planet from mother nature, never saw the auroras yet though. i walked in a thunderstorm once, pretty intense. there was thunder and lightning atleast 3 times a minute. i got soaked but it felt good being in the storm. it can be really relaxing if you are in the right state of mind.

Angels dont cry, in heaven there is no pain and suffering so what would be there to cry about. I think rain is more like tears of joy instead of sadness.

no way! rain is great, i love it! It's nothing to cry about!
its the angels watering their garden or having a water fight.
and the thunder is when they are bowling
the lighting is God taking a picture of it all

I well I think they cry over a new born spiritual birth. Perhaps they weep over someone who should know better and slips up. Perhaps they weep in prayer for a mother who weeps in prayer for a son, daughter, or other loved one. Perhaps they wept when Christ was laughed, mocked at, and scorned by mankind so long ago. Perhaps they weep because mankind does not seek to allow the goodness of God to live in their lives.
Angels weep over many things. And so do those of us who are human.

I was told while growing up, that "God was watering the flowers." When it thundered "The Angels were bowling," and during a lightning storm, "God was turning the lights on and off."
It got me through a lot of scarring thunderstorms.

I think I'd rather think of it as a symbolic 'swabbing of the deck'. Like they're cleaning away the dust and dirt. The thought of sad angels is...well, sad.

No, it's when they shake the water out of their hair. Like after a shower or a dip in the pool!!!
