my friends grandma died and they're selling all her stuff and the attorneys making them put it up for auction or something and they made it seem like all her stuff was already out of the house and my friend can't even get anything from her grandma (not in the money way, in the family heirloom and stuff dear to them way) so all her jewely perfume everything is going up for auction how would you feel if that was you? and some attorney made you sell all your grandma's stuff and even the money from the auction you don't get it goes to the attorney fu*cking ridiculous

That is really harsh... I'm taking it your friend's grandmother died without a will? If that happens, common law dictates who will inherit the deceased's property. That is unless the person has debts and/or funeral expenses considered higher than the value of their assets, in which case their belongings become the property of the state to cover such expenses.

Yes, if the Grandma was deep in debt is perfectly legal for her creditors to request the estate be liquidated to pay off the debt that she owes.
